POSITION SUMMARY: The Van Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of customers, day services client, an/or employees to and from the ElderCare Center during approved activities to pre-determined destinations. RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Operates the center's vehicles in a safe manner when transporting customers, clients and/or employees; 2. Assists customers, and/or employees when boarding and disembarking the vehicles; 3. Ascertains the customers' and/or employees' safe arrival to home, the center, and all other destinations; 4. Maintains route and mileage logs; 5. Monitors routine vehicle safety conditions including fuel and vital fluid levels; 6. Reports any vehicle problems, or maintenance needs to the Administrator immediately; 7. Makes certain that all vehicle passengers follow safety procedures, including fastening seat belts, prior to moving the van; 8. Interacts in a positive manner with customers, and families as a representative of the center; 9. Performs other duties as requested.
JOB SKILLS: 1. Excellent driving record and be safety conscious. 2. Strong oral and written communication skills. 3. Compassionate individual capable of rendering physical assistance to the customers as needed. 4. Ability to positively interact with personnel, customers, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. 5. Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test. PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES: 1. Interacts with customers, day services clients (where applicable), families, visitors, ElderCare Center and Genesis subsidiary personnel. 2. Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required. SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. High school degree or equivalent. 2. Current drivers license. 3. Commercial driver-s license (if required).
